Gone creating

 

Well again i have left it a while to update my blog i really must get myself together so much has been going on though i have been working hard to get my facebook page working better for me and at the same time have had lots of card orders to make and lots of shifts at work so its busy busy busy

 

When i started out on the craft fair journey we was invited to do a permenant fair at a venue by someone which accually fell through rather dramaticaaly after the first day of opening we were all let down rather badly but 3 of us rallied together and decided we would organise our own christmas craft event so after a lot of planning and hard work organising booking stalls advertising printing posters etc our first event will be held next saturday in our local town it's an exciting as well as nervous venture you work so hard to organise it now it's fingers crossed that it is a success i hope so it will also decide if we go ahead and organise future events

Oooooops

Well i cannot beleive i have left it this long again to update my blog cripps where do i start ? well my venture into the world of craft fairs and the whole crafting network has been great i have met and made some wonderful friends along the way learnt a massive amount from other more experienced people had a good time and made some money lol not all fairs have been a rouring success and i realise crafts are not the place at fun days still you live and learn and i will know for next year simon and I have travel most of somerset on the craft fair roller coaster now i think he has even enjoyed attending a few with me lol only just maybe i dont accually think he has sold anything yet though hehehehe
 so since i have not been on here i was diagnosed with depression and didnt do much at all i never went near my craft room to be honest but after lots of talking some tablets and some time out time i was back a raring to go and i sat and created

Crikey where has the time gone

Well i haven't been here for a while i have been busy working and creating and doing craft fairs apart from the work bit all fun stuff i had a stall at a charity funday on bank holiday monday thankfully the weather held out and we had a fantastic day even the hubster enjoyed himself ( he is not really a sitting around kind of guy ) but even he said what a good day it was and i even managed to sell some of my creations which is wonderful and means i now have room to make some more ready for my next one i even made my own jubilee banner for my stall and me the silly fool forgot to take a picture 

i did take a photo of my hubster keeping an ever watchful eye over my stock lol

So seeing as its jubilee and all that i thought the card i would post today would be the jubilee card i made for a competition ( only a friendly one )

I didn't have any jubilee themed stock so apart from the odd bits and pieces this is made from all freebies from the internet.

Work is soooooo boring

Card making and paper crafting is my hobby my passion really something i started in 2006 when i gave up smoking, Or did i ? really i have been crafting for many more years when my daughter was younger we was always making cards for family birthdays or painting, drawing, making pictures  i spent most of her younger years covered in glitter and glue spending weeks watching the glitter wink at me on the living room carpet even all those years ago thinking back now we had a big craft box with lots of exciting goodies to craft with ! although the whole card making world really did take off for me in 2006 and quickly it became an escapism i could lose myself in my little crafting world i now have the luxury of my very own craft room and it's filled with lots of wonderful carfting goodies now a far cry from my craft box from all those years ago i think i am writing this blog today as it is my mums birthday the queen of crafting for me and from her i get my crafting passion i used to watch how she would sit for hours on end knitting crocheting making clothes etc i have now become my mum lost in my own crafting world how i wish she could of seen how much i learnt from her and how this passion of mine has evolved and  how proud am i when someone buys my cards and tells me how lovely they are So today i say thankyou MUM for inheriting your crafting passion and ability my true queen of craft

My 3rd craft fair (im getting there now)

So on saturday after frantically crafting and making new things i did my third craft fair what a difference from my first i was still very nervous but more confident i always get a bit apprenhensive when i see other card stalls there that old demon that sits on my shoulder sometimes starts talking are my cards good enough are the other card makers cards better than mine are my cards to expensive etc etc setting out your stall is also highly important and i was moving things and re-arranging things for about 2 hours before i was fianlly almost happy having the shelves to display things made a big difference and i did very well i enjoy meeting people and sharing idea's i gain more and more confidence with each one and beleive more and more in what i do it's nice to see where i can improve my stall and what i do well i met some wonderful people on saturday and hopefully crafting friendships were formed next stop saturday 19th may

My shopping trip goodies

I had a shopping trip to Hobby craft and bought some goodies and have spent the week playing with my new purchases

so the top 3 cards are made with my new tatty teddies stamps i dont put myself in the class of a stamper i like it but im a bit hit and miss wether it comes out right or not fortunatley on this occasion i did and i used my water colour pencils to colour them in the backing papers are tatty teddy and the backing shapes are made with my nesties  

so after my tatty teddy i went on to make this wedding card using my embossing folders  to emboss the horseshoe's the backing papers are papermania and are very elegant i think they lent themselves well to the wedding theme paper flowers are from do crafts another addiction of mine at the moment it's been a busy week and have had a great time making new things for my craft fair today !

Just the one today

Well i had some errands to run and when i got back had an awful headache but the call of the craft room doesn't stay away for too long and eventually i gave in and made the above

i was watching sue wilson on create and craft and she showed a beautiful card that she had made white on white and very simple after the whole shabby chic mode i have been in for the last week i thought it would make a nice change to do something completely different i had no idea where i was going with this but think it's pretty elegant

so it's made up of an A5 white card blank then i embossed on my big shot some centura pearl card stock mounted this onto silver mirri card i then printed off and cut out some flowers from my debbi moore shabby chic victorian botanicals cd added some do crafts paper flowers a few do crafts gem stones i used an x cut botanicals leaf punch for the leaves and finished it off with a sentiment from hunkydory that i made custom fit im pretty pleased with the end result

What do you do with the leftovers ?

I spent most of the day yesterday playing with my new shabby chic cd's and had a great day and was chuffed to bits with this name banner i made

These cd's are packed with lots of different things to play around with nearly everything you see is off the cd apart from the cream flowers the ribbon and the gem stones

anyway as i was clearing up packing away the scrap bits of paper i decided to use them to cut out some of my spellbinder shapes then i had this idea to make a quick little card with what was left on my desk

And so here it is ! it's amazing what you can do with all the little bits and pieces this is a small 2x2 inch card backing papers are scraps from debbi moore shabby chic cd debbi moore flutterby paper delights cd debbi moore fairies paper delights cd i used my spellbinders to cut the bird and cage white card stock coloured with distress ink to punch out the leaf shapes white paper flowers some blue ribbon and some gem stones was chuffed with what i could make with the left overs !

A new style of crafting Scary !!

I have always liked the shabby chic look card but have always been a bit unsure where to start i never really considered it to be my kind of style for making cards but i love to try new things  or else you never learn anything new

 so when i saw the new debbi moore shabby chic cd's i just loved the papers and images and thought great now is the perfect time to have a go so i was disappointed and excited when my new cd's arrived on friday and i had to go to work and had to wait till sunday afternoon before i could have a play and here is the result my very first shabby chic card (pictured above) i must admit i'm a bit hooked now

My friends birthday is coming up shortly so guess what yes this is her shabby chic birthday card (pictured above)

the cd's are rammed packed with lovely things not just cards either so i will have many more happy hours of crafting

And so my drawer easel cards begin

So i had seen this being done on tv and thought how cute i want to have a go i spent all day in my craft room having had a pattern to work from and slung it out because i couldn't make head nor tail of it i then sat with lots and lots of cheap white card making my own template to work from  and finally my drawer easel card was born admittedly these are not my first one but i now have the technique down pat so i made some more the top one was made as a comission for a friend using hunkydory card stock and images are customers own the bottom one is made with hunkydory card stock forever friends backing papers and hunkydory topper

Locking myself away

So i was having a bad day yesterday real fed up so i decided after doing all the boring things ie housework and such i would shut myself off in my craft room not having anything in mind it was a day to play and try new things and it was just great i made loads the top card  is the last card i made late last night using free papers from debbi moore's website and backing papers from my crystal dreams cd the middle butterfly card it made with a template from google images the card stock and sentiment are from hunkydory with a few other embellishments the bottom butterfly card i was not so sure of im growing to like it but the colour scheme was new to me and as i was making it i kept thing im not so sure but my husband and daughter say it nice so i will take their word for it (hahahaha) cardstock is hunkydory backing papers are free download for memebers on create and carft website paper flowers are from do crafts i had a fab day and finally emerged alot happier kerry at 10pm last night with a very numb bottom and covered from head to toe in ultra fine glitter lol

A bird in hand

So i love making cards but i also love all kinds of papercarfting and at a craft show recently i saw a bird house and thought i'd like to have a go and so here it is i made mine into a pot pourri holder so the pattern i got free off the internet i used 200g card stock printed one side with a backing paper from joanna sheen cottage garden cd and printed the pattern on the other side i made the base and the roof with hunkydory autumn dreams card stock before putting the roof on i filled it with large pot pourri i then added the flowers on the front to finish it off when complete they stand approx 3inch x 3inch

So it's not quite a card !

So this is what i made yesterday i have made a smaller version of these and they were ok i have a cheap backing paper cd which i used for the paper the boxes were a kit which i had purchased a while ago from create and craft and the template i got off the internet i tried using extra strong tape to stick the booties together but it didn't hold so i went back to good old fashioned wet glue and decorated the box with some baby peel offs i had i must admit im really pleased with the result and the bigger version definatley looks better

My first carft fair

Well i have ventured into the world of blogging and thought i would start with my first craft fair. so i booked in my first craft fair and then panicked i didn't have enough cards for a stall so i spent almost all day and night crafting like mad and still on the day i didn't think i had nearly enough so i arrived at the venue to discover the other crafters there didn't have 2 heads or anything in fact they were all very lovely and had lots of hints and tips and there was even other crafters new to all this nether the less i was soooooo nervous i had googled all the information i could before hand and with the help of my daughter for assistance we set up shop ! it turned out to be a wonderful day i made new friends learnt what i would do again and what i would do different and had some wonderful feedback more importantly i had plenty of stock after all the panic i look forward to my next fair in 2 weeks time
